Private Boca Chita Key Boat Tours in Biscayne National Park

Boca Chita Key is the most visited island in Biscayne National Park, and it's easy to see why. A 65-foot ornamental lighthouse, built in the 1930s by industrialist Mark Honeywell, stands guard over a quiet stone-walled harbor. The island is part of a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Captain Pablo Treto gets you there privately, just your group.
What you can do at Boca Chita Key
See the lighthouse up close. It reopened in June 2026 after a full restoration. When park staff are around, they may open the observation deck, which has views of the islands, the bay, the ocean and the Miami skyline.
Go ashore. When there's space in the harbor, we tie up and you can explore at your own pace. If the harbor is full, you'll still see the island and lighthouse from the water.
Walk the trail. A half-mile trail loops to the south end of the island.
Watch for wildlife. On the ride across Biscayne Bay, keep an eye out for dolphins, sea turtles, manatees and wading birds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can we always go ashore at Boca Chita Key?
Only when there's space in the harbor. If it's full, you'll see the island and lighthouse from the water, so we can't promise a landing.
Can we bring our dog?
No. The park doesn't allow pets on Boca Chita Key or on boats in its harbor (service animals excepted).
What should we bring?
Reef-safe sunscreen, mosquito repellent, towels, hats and your own food and drinks. The island has no drinking water or shops, but we bring ice and bottled water. All trash is packed out.
